How my knives are

Here you will find a few words about the process of creating my knives: from a flat bar to a finished, functional product. My knives are 100% handcrafted using hand tools and simple power tools such as a drill press or a belt grinder. The whole product is made of the highest quality materials available on the market.

After the hardening and the tempering process, one blade from each series is checked for the obtained hardness using the Rockwell method (the result is given in HRC). In addition, in the further process of hand sanding, the hardness of each blade is checked using special Japanese files for determining the hardness of steel.

Flat bars of steel intended for cutting tools are bought in Polish knifemaker stores. Cut, grinded and pre-satinised blades are taken to the Institute of Precision Mechanics (IMP) in Warsaw for professional hardening.

Each knife is equipped with a lanyard, usually made of a natural, leather thong, which is dyed either in the color of the sheath or in the colour matching the paracord. Each lanyard has a bead made of the same materials as the handle.

The materials for the handle are chosen depending on the project. The handle can be made of natural wood, artificial materials such as Micarta, G10, Juma or stabilized wood, which is a combination of natural wood and epoxy resin. Knife handles in the full tang version are mounted with pins and lanyard tube. The pins can be made of brass, copper, steel, mosaic or carbon fiber. The whole thing is glued together with G-flex epoxy glue.

The last stage of knife making proces is manual sharpening with diamond stones using a professional system that maintains a specific sharpening angle by TSPROF K03.

The finished product is dressed in a sheath usually made of vegetable-tanned cowhide from a Polish tanning plant. The leather is hand-sewn, dyed and protected against moisture (inside and out) with professional Fiebing’s leather chemicals. Alternatively, the sheath may be made of Kydex thermoplastic material.

For my every knife you can buy a decorative box made of bog oak with my logo on the lid. The product is then ready for shipping by courier or parcel locker. If it is more convenient for you, you are welcome to collect your knife in person in Wołomin near Warsaw.

The above steps may seem very quick and straightforward, however in reality the process of creating a knife lasts from several hours to several dozen hours. It may seem like a lot for a small thing like a knife, but the end result is definitely worth it.
